What fantastic outdoor adventures we have had this Easter!
This Easter, Abacus Mountain Guides and Team Wise Monkeys have been exploring some of the real rock Lochaber has to offer. The weather threw some challenges in our direction but with huge smiles on our faces we made the most of every minute.
Scrambling: Our hillsides offer a vast array of crags, steep ground and ridges to explore.
Climbing: The wonderfully featured mica schist rock in Glen Nevis has hundreds of routes of every grade for us to try. Our team learned all about how to climb safely outdoors. We used big rocks and trees to build anchors and belayed each other using top and bottom roping techniques.
Building Belays: We looked at how to find the best tree or rock to build ourselves a ‘bomber’ belay!
Abseiling: Walking backwards down a cliff can be a huge challenge! We overcame our fears and descended the rocks using ropes and belay devices.
Bouldering: We learned how to spot each other properly and how to tackle some of the most challenging boulder problems in Glen Nevis. We also found some brilliant boulder problems that involved squeezing through small gaps and crawling right underneath the boulders!
Everyone worked really well together to support, encourage and problem solve. It was great watching Team Wise Monkeys learning how to climb safely in the outdoors and exploring our natural environment. Hopefully everyone feels inspired to continue exploring the outdoors and the beautiful environment that we are lucky enough to call home. Three Wise Monkeys looks forward to hearing about your adventures!
A big thanks to Mike (Abacus Mountain Guides) for helping us take Team Wise Monkeys outdoors!
