For anyone on Ben Nevis at the weekend, it may be hard to believe, but its currently summer, and that can mean only one thing. Yes, you guessed it, time to be training for this years Scottish National Bouldering League! Hurrah!
The Scottish National Bouldering League is a national competition held at participating walls across Scotland – competitors can take part in each individual competition and normally gain points for the four best results rankings. A proportion of the top competitors are then invited to the final to fight for the crown of Scottish National Bouldering League Champion (not an actual crown)
This Year, Three Wise Monkeys are hosting a round of the SNBL on January the 13th – this will be one of our Saturday all day comps, in the hope that visiting climbers can get away from work on the Friday night to get to the comp and maybe even stick around for some Winter Climbing on the Sunday.
The full competition schedule is below:
Round 1 – 28th October, 2017 – TCA Glasgow
Round 2 – TBC November 2017 – Alien Rock, Edinburgh
Round 3 – 2nd December 2017 – Transition Extreme, Aberdeen
Round 4 – 13th January 2018 – Three Wise Monkeys, Fort William
Round 5 – 23rd February 2018 – Avertical World Dundee
Round 6 – TBC March 2017 – Eden Rock, Edinburgh (New venue, due to open soon)
Our first winter comp will be in mid September to welcome this years UHI students, the perfect chance to warm up for the SNBL!
Entry to the league is free with any participating competition entries, so there is only the cost of transport to consider. We will have a number of league competitors, so get in touch if you are interested in car sharing on the way down, if we get enough interest we will consider laying on a minibus and a set of Team Wise Monkeys climbing tees!
Want to get ahead of the game for the next competition series? Try coming along to our adult climbing coaching clinics on a Friday night.
